I began teaching fifth grade in Olympia, Washington in 2006 and have been doing so ever since. Currently I teach math and science as a part of a teaching team at my grade level. Between 2010 and 2012, I completed a master’s degree in mathematics education at The Evergreen State College. In 2013, I earned National Board Certification in Early Adolescent Mathematics.
In addition to writing about math here I am also contributing to Stories From School, a blog organized by the Center for Strengthening the Teaching Profession.
I also learn from other math teachers on Twitter @mrolmsted
